  • October 15, 2010: What's New in Bankruptcy?, presentation to a Law Society of Upper Canada conference on The Six Minute Debtor-Creditor and Insolvency Lawyer, Toronto.

  • October 29, 2010: Lunchtime presentation to the Lincoln County Law Association, St. Catharines, Ont.

  • November 9, 2010: Argument before the Supreme Court of Canada, as co-counsel for the appellant wife, on the case of Schreyer v. Schreyer dealing with the wife's right to seek equalization, despite the husband's bankruptcy, against his homestead property that is exempt under Manitoba law. Robert Klotz's argument before the court can be viewed on the Supreme Court Webcast from minute 42:50 to 1:02:50, and on Reply from minute 2:09:40 to 2:24:40 . Update: The Supreme Court's decision was delivered on July 14, 2011: we lost! While this is tragic for Mrs. Schreyer, I take some slight personal solace from the Court's recommendation that the Government give prompt legislative attention to my proposals for reform to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act in the area of family law, all of which were adopted by the Canadian Senate Banking Committee in its 2003 Review of Insolvency Law. Had these proposals been enacted, Mrs. Schreyer would never have suffered the injustice in this case.
